Operations Manager

  • Chicago based distributer is expanding and needs to add an Operations Manager to the facility
  • Our client has created a new role to manage the e-commerce division
  • The role will manage up to 100 employees including 2 supervisors and 2 shifts

Skills/Experience:
  • Bachelors degree is required, education should be in a related field such as Business, Operations Management, Leadership, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain or similar
  • 7+ years of work experience in a distribution environment is required; prior supervisory experience is required. Background in the operation of a large distribution center with a strong emphasis on quality to the customer is preferred.
  • Proficiency in WMS platforms with automated conveyor systems, pick to light systems, and RF driven applications.
  • Must have experience sending products to large big-box retailers 
  • Able to lead and implement lean Operations, Six Sigma, Kanban, and Kaizen systems.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Additional experience regarding metrics, capacity planning, value added services, seasonal work forces, and safety.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language required; bilingual in Spanish is highly preferred.
  • Ability to lead change
 
Responsibilities:
  • Manage shipping & receiving operations for the Franklin Park distribution center
  • Prepare daily management reports and report required metrics on a timely basis.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers to support shipping and receiving operations.
  • Work with both domestic and international suppliers
  • Supervise 60-100 hourly employees and 2 supervisors 
  • Lead, direct, mentor and develop employees
  • Manage a very fast paced operation that measures KPI's and develops / implements new CI programs 
  • Foster positive working relationships. Responds proactively to performance concerns, discipline, employee complaints and other employee relations matters.
  • Provide training, equipment, and guidance to warehouse personnel.
